CLUB HISTORY:
We were chartered as a club on October 7, 1978 and were sponsored by the Fort Atkinson Lions Club. Twenty-two members were installed as charter members and changed “to make your community and world a better place to live.”
LIONISM:
We are a group dedicated toward the everlasting challenge of Service to Others. This is reflected in our motto: “We Serve” and in our Lions Pin. On the pin the Lions profile looks two ways representing a Lion looking in every direction for an opportunity to give unselfish service.
LIONS PROJECTS WE SUPPORT:
Camp Rosholt: This camp is owned by the Wisconsin Lions Club. It is located near Stevens Point and provides one week of free camping for handicapped children and adults. Any person meeting the requirements from our area can attend the camp free of charge.
Wisconsin Lions Foundation (WLF): This foundation sponsors the Eye Bank Program and provides for the transplanting of corneas.
Lions Club International Foundation: This foundation sponsors the Leader Dog and Hearing Dog Programs. The foundation also distributes funds to countries around the world to help recover from disasters such as earthquakes.
BOLD: This is a recreational leisure development for the blind. It started with enabling the blind to ski, but has since expanded to other activities such as bowling, stock car racing, etc.
DIABETES SCREENING: Through this program we have been able to provide each school system in our district with a diabetes monitor.
